Thorbjorn Jagland, Chairman of the Norwegian Nobel Committee announced in Oslo on 10 October 2014 the Norwegian Nobel Committee awarded the 2014 Peace Nobel Prize to Malala Yousafzai from Pakistan and Kailash Satyarthi from India. Malala and Satyarthi share the prize ‘for their struggle against the suppression of children and young people and for the right of all children to education,’ the Norwegian Nobel Committee says.
